Samsung hits back at Apple in Germany
Remember our story earlier this week about Samsung expanding the patent row with Apple in Germany? Here is some interesting bit of news – apparently, Samsung Electronics has managed to make enough changes to their Galaxy Tab 10.1 so that it is no longer deemed to be a ‘copy” of the Apple iPad in the eyes of the law – at least, according to a judge at the district court in Dsseldorf, Germany. This is certainly a blow to Cupertino who is currently on a worldwide (looks like it, anyways) campaign to halt the sales of Samsung’s Android-powered products through patent wars and legal battles.
Originally, the German court blocked sales of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 earlier this September, and it is nice to see that Samsung has introduced modifications to the tablet’s overall design, dubbing it the Galaxy Tab 10.1N, and in the process, making it different enough from the iPad to warrant being sold in Germany (and hopefully, in the rest of the world as well). Just what does the Galaxy Tab 10.1N bring? It will sport a new bezel and speakers in front, ensuring no one will make a mistake of thinking this is an Apple product. Heck, I am quite sure the box of the original alone would have given the game away, don’t you think so?
