Every new 3D movie that hits the cinema seems to be an excuse for companies to push out licensed merchandise. Earlier this year we had Transformers themed 3D masks in conjunction with the Transformers: Dark of the Moon movie, and this December’s attraction: Tintin is about to get its own 3D glasses as well. This time, they’re in the form of stylish Oakley 3D glasses. Oakley has announced over the weekend that in commemoration with the launch of The Adventures of Tintin in the US, it released the Oakley 3D Gascan TINTIN Limited Edition 3D glasses.
The glasses feature art inspired by the movie – rich graphics on the earstems of the “Polished Rootbeer” colored frame and a custom Microclear bag to keep the glasses safe and clean. If you’re wondering what’s so special about the Gascan, it’s touted as the “world’s first optically correct 3D eyewear” that provide a truer alignment of 3D images and is engineered with a lens shape that minimizes reflections and glare. However, if you plan to get your hands on these limited edition glasses, you better be quick – only 4,000 have been made and they will be available worldwide. These glasses will set you back $150 each and are available now. [Press Release]
