Chevrolet Sonic recalled due to missing brake pads
I am not quite sure how you would be able to drive without your vehicle having any brake pads, but somehow, over 4,000 units of 2012 Chevrolet Sonic subcompact cars have already been sold, where they all do miss out on their brake pads – be it inner or outer, either way, the main reason they are there is to increase stopping distance. Good thing for General Motors, the mother company of Chevrolet, there were no crashes or injuries that happened in a 2012 Chevrolet Sonic due to the missing brake pad issue.
The recall exercise will involve exactly 4,296 of 2012 Chevrolet Sonics sold across the US, where affected models hail from the Orion Township assembly plant in Michigan that produces Sonics for the US and Canadian markets. Dealers will do their part in inspecting front brakes on Sonics, and should they catch a missing outer or inner pad, rest assured – those will be installed at no cost. Those who are affected should look out for the mailman as dealer letters are expected to arrive from January 14th onwards.
