We have reported in the past that the tablet was scheduled for an October launch, but as we can see that’s hardly the case. In fact the ViewPad 7x was only seen at the FCC early October therefore putting it at a December launch seems about right. Now don’t expect it to be a fancy tablet that will replace your Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 or Motorola Xoom or iPad just yet.
In terms of hardware we’re looking at a 7” 1024×600 display with a dual-core 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, a 5MP/2MP rear/front-facing camera, 8GB of internal memory and will run on Android’s Honeycomb 3.2. The last we checked its price was expected to be around $379 which is close to $200 more than Amazon’s Kindle Fire. It will be interesting to see if the ViewSonic ViewPad 7x will be able to give Amazon’s Kindle Fire a run for its money.
