There is a difference though, in the sense that Tascam’s iM2 includes its own preamplifier and stereo limiter. What this means is that the iM2 will be capable of recording at much louder volumes (up to 128dB SPL) before it starts to distort, which means that you should be able to get a much decent bootleg recording at the gig of your favorite band compared to the rest of the audience.
As you can see in the photo above, the iM2 will attach your iOS device via the 30-pin dock connector, and will be compatible with the iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPod touch fourth gen, iPad and iPad 2. Tascam’s iM2 is available for $79 and a recording app for the device will be available from the iTunes App Store shortly.
