According to the specs, the 7” Galapagos tablet will sport a 1024×600 display resolution, with NVIDIA’s Tegra-2 dual-core processor powering the device. It will sport 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot, HDMI output, a 5MP/2MP rear/front-facing camera and will support WiMax connectivity. It will come loaded with Android’s Honeycomb 3.2, but no word from Sharp if there are plans to bring Ice Cream Sandwich to the device in the future.
One of the interesting features about the tablet is that it when hooked onto a WiMax connection, it will be able to turn itself in a hotspot and tether up to an additional seven other devices. The 7” Galapagos tablet will be launched in Japan come 17th of December, but no word on pricing or if there are plans to bring it over stateside.
