These wireless headphones are said to provide the same sort of sound you would get from high quality wired headsets, except that you won’t be bound by wires yourself. It makes use of Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum (DSSS) technology to provide audiophiles the quality that they crave from their headphones.
According to Sennheiser’s Senoir Acoustical Engineer, “This is a frequency spreading process in which the output signal is spread to a width of 22 MHz by means of a specified bit sequence. If interference occurs at one point within this frequency range, the output signal experiences no interference, as the data are transmitted with redundancy, in other words, several times. As a result, the overall sound quality is fully maintained.”
While you aren’t bound by wires, unfortunately you’ll need to stay within range of the transmitter which at the moment isn’t what I would call portable. The transmitter supports various inputs, and can be connected to multiple sources all at the same time. Sensor buttons on the transmitter or the headphones let users switch back and forth between sources.
However, as we all know, quality comes with a price, and the Sennheiser RS 220 isn’t cheap. It will carry a street price of $599.95 and will be available soon from select retailers. Find out more.
