PBS Kids app uses augmented reality to teach your children math

Kids these days seem to have access to a variety of learning tools that make our educational toys back in the day seem downright boring and prehistoric. PBS Kids has recently launched another educational app for children entitled “Fetch! Lunch Rush”, and the interesting thing about this app is that it utilizes augmented reality to help educate your kids.

The app is basically a math app, and teaches your kids how to solve math problems through the visualization of problems. While it does use augmented reality, it does so not in the strictest sense of the word. In order to activate the augmented reality function and fully utilize it, parents will have to print out game cards that will be used in conjunction with your iOS’s camera.

The good news for parents is that this app is free, and all you will need is an iPhone, iPod touch (fourth generation or later), or the iPad/iPad 2 that’s running on iOS 4.0 or later
