Panasonic Lumix 3D1 jumps aboard the 3D bandwagon

Want to be the next James Cameron and shoot your home video in stereoscopic 3D? You won’t really go wrong with Panasonic’s upcoming Lumix 3D1 – as this particular twin-lens digital camera will be able to do both traditional 2D and 3D images. The twin-lens design will feature 25mm ultra-wide angle lenses with 4x optical zoom, shooting 8-megapixel 3D photos as well as recording video memories in 1,920 x 1,080 resolution 60i quality 3D HD video. Not only that, the Lumix 3D1’s optics delivers a wider range of composition possibilities, which is roughly 169% more viewing space compared to that of 35mm cameras. So much for the earlier leak that has now been made fact.

If you do not want to take the stereoscopic 3D route, the Lumix 3D1 will still be able to dish out traditional 2D images at 12-megapixels for stills and Full HD videos. Want to switch between 2D and 3D modes? Doing so is literally a snap – all you need to do is flip the dedicated 2D/3D switch located right at the back of the camera and you’re good to go.

Other hardware capabilities include its iA (Intelligent Auto) mode, MEGA O.I.S, AF Tracking, Intelligent Scene Selector, Face Recognition and Intelligent ISO Control, Intelligent Exposure and Intelligent Handheld Nightshot. To keep up with the times, there is also a 3.5″ Smart Touch screen at the back that makes menu selection even easier afterwards.
