The Finnish company recently announced that they would attempt to reel in developers for the Windows Phone platform. They plan to accomplish this by offering developers help with marketing, as well as help in entering markets where Nokia is strong in, such as China. The company will be working on a program with Microsoft to help developers translate and to market their apps in those countries.
Smartphone users are probably aware that the apps play a big role in helping them determine which platform to go for. While a platform may look good on paper with its features, the lack of apps may turn some users off. If Nokia and Microsoft plan to make Windows Phone work for them, targeting and attracting developers might be a good way to start.
