Kobo Touch for under a Benjamin?
The e-book reader market is clearly heating up with the kind of competition going around, and the Kobo Touch is one of the latest competitors to enter the scene. I guess we can call this the little e-reader that could – where it will come with an extremely attractive price tag of $99, but with a caveat – your eyes will have to make do with the permanent ads which make an appearance whenever you use it. According to Kobo, they decided to describe these ads as “sponsored screens and valuable offers” which will appear in “discreet places that are always outside of the reading experience, like on the bottom of your home screen”. Hmmm, I guess we will need to check one out for ourselves to see if what Kobo claims is true or not.
Other than the presence of advertisements, everything else about the Kobo Touch here is the same as the regular model, ranging from the 6″ E Ink display to the 1GB of internal memory, not to mention full and unfettered access to over 2.2 million titles over at the Kobo e-book store. Will the cheaper price point prevail in the e-book reader wars?
