iOS 5.0.1 beta now being seeded to selected users

As we all know, the beta version of iOS 5.0.1 has been seeded to developers about a week ago, and now it looks like they’re getting non-developers to test the update as well – 9to5Mac.com has reported that they’ve received invitations to test out the iOS 5.0.1 beta update. The update is said to fix the battery life issue of iOS 5 as well as introduce some improvements to Siri. The update also brings multitasking gestures to the first generation iPad and some other fixes.

If you happen to be one of the selected users for the update, remember to back up your phone before installing it – the update is still in beta after all and you never know what could go wrong. You also won’t be able to revert back to iOS 5 after installing 5.0.1, but you’ll be allowed to upgrade to the next version when it is finally released.

And for those of you who are thinking of getting a new battery just to bypass this battery bug, it looks like Apple isn’t going to replace the batteries in your iOS 5 devices just yet – the company has issued notices to Apple Stores, telling employees inform consumers about the update arriving in a few weeks that will fix the problem.
