Samsung Galaxy Nexus arrives at the FCC, heads for Verizon Wireless
There is still no official word as to when the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Google’s upcoming superphone that will be the first smartphone from the Android platform to run on the Ice Cream Sandwich version, will hit the market Stateside, but it is encouraging to see that the Samsung Galaxy Nexus has already made its way to the FCC. Yes sir, this can only mean one thing – once it picks up FCC approval and certification, it should be very near a release from the mobile carrier known as Verizon Wireless. Since the accessories for the smartphone have already arrived at Verizon, the phone should follow suit shortly after.
Also known as the SCH-i515 if you are a sucker for model numbers, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus will play nice with Verizon’s CDMA/EvDO 3G network, in addition to their 4G LTE network of course. Apart from that, the FCC filings do point towards approval for dual-band Wireless N Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity apart from NFC support that allows you to start shopping wirelessly. Could NFC be the new credit card? Not really, if it is connected to your savings account, so you can’t spend money that you don’t have.
