AT&T offers free Wi-Fi in select NYC parks
New York might be a sprawling metropolis, but that does not mean the place has no room for some greenery. There is this bunch of particularly iconic parks around the city, and apart from relaxing and exercising there, what else do you think you can do there? Of course, there are others who head to the park to get away from being connected, but there is also another group of folks who cannot remain apart from their tablet or smartphone for more than an hour – hence AT&T delivering free Wi-Fi connectivity at Pier 1 at Brooklyn Bridge Park, Prospect Park Picnic House and Manhattan’s Marcus Garvey Park.
According to Tom DeVito, AT&T vice president and general manager for New York and New Jersey, “We want to keep New Yorkers connected wherever they are and both Prospect Park and Pier 1 are among the city’s most popular parks all year round. We’re excited to be able to enhance the visitor experience at these locations, as well as in Marcus Garvey Park where thousands will gather this weekend to watch the New York City marathon.”
Hopefully the number of people who pay a visit to those parks will be able to enjoy a smooth surfing experience, and that Ma Bell’s network is able to stand up to the strain assuming there are plenty of simultaneous logins. [Press Release]
