Apple: iOS 5.0.2 update in the works, iOS 5.1 major update to follow (Rumor)

We know that Apple’s release of iOS 5.0.1 failed to solve some of the battery woes that have plagued iOS users since the update to iOS 5. While the reports are conflicting, with some users claiming that they have no battery issues, it seems that the majority are still faced with severe battery drain, so much so that Apple has issued a statement claiming that they will take a look into the matter.

A recent report from Macerkopf.de has revealed that an update in the form of iOS 5.0.2 is in the works and will be pushed out soon. This update is said to resolve battery issues on the iPhone 4S, and provide 40 hours of standby with 10 hours of active use. The update is said to be release “no later than next week”, but we’ll take that with a grain of salt for now until we see the update.

The report also mentions a major update to iOS 5.1, which they claim will most likely arrive in 2012. This update will feature many changes mostly directed at Siri, and will add support for new languages and commands, such as taking photos, recording videos, enabling/disabling WiFi and/or Bluetooth.

An update to Siri with support for additional commands and languages is a given, but for now let’s just take all this information with a grain of salt until Apple actually announces something.
