Altec Lansing announces new Custom Series earphones

Fans of Altec Lansing’s products will be pleased to know that the company has announced just this morning their new Custom Series earphones, the A1, A2 and A3 models. Exactly how custom is custom? Well, whenever a customer purchases either of the three models, they will be referred to an Audiologist who will then create a custom mould of the customer’s ears. This will ensure that the earphones will fit nice and snug, creating a seal for noise isolation and sound quality.

In terms of hardware, all three models will feature a triple armature design and use a medical grade silicone called 40 Shore Silicone. Developed in conjunction with ACS, this silicone is said to be of high durability while not sacrificing softness or pliability, although we have yet to put this to the test. They will also feature cables that have been encased in kevlar for extra durability and strength.

The A1 and A2 will feature one and two drivers respectively, with the A3 being the top of the line model with low, mid and high drivers, and is said to give out the most accurate sound reproduction across the 16Hz-20,000Hz frequency response range, but it will cost you. The A3 will come with a price tag of $1,000, the A2 for $750 and the A1 for $500. All three models will be made available some time this month.
