While no specific details about the company’s plans have been released yet, Canonical did mention that it will be bringing Ubuntu to smartphones, tablets as well as smart TVs. Canonical will be making Ubuntu 12.04 its next long term support version of their Linux distribution and will then focus on mobile devices after that. No word on when we’ll see the first Ubuntu mobile devices – but the company has reportedly been working with hardware partners for the past eighteen months.
I wonder which OEMs will be onboard to create new Ubuntu devices. Are you excited about owning an Ubuntu phone? Or do you think we don’t need yet another mobile operating system?
