Toshiba Regza 55X3 naked eye 3D TV is world’s first 4K2K model

[CEATEC 2011] Toshiba is surely making waves at CEATEC this year, where they are behind the world’s first 4K2K model known as the Regza 55X3, and what makes this particular TV special is the fact that this TV does stereoscopic 3D movies and shows without the need to wear a pair of dorky (or designer) glasses, bringing unbelievable resolution at four times that of Full HD resolution – which brings the grand total to 3,840 × 2,160 pixels. 

This is truly a TV that is ahead of its time though, since if you happen to want to view 3D movies on this, current media will hit a maximum resolution of just 1,280 x 720. Ah well, at least it is pretty rare to own a device that does not get obsolete in some way or another the moment it is unboxed.

Other hardware specifications include a 5,000:1 contrast ratio, LED backlight, a face-tracking function, Regza Link, five digital tuners, 10W× 2ch+10W speakers, a quartet of HDMI ports, and two USB ports. Toshiba hopes to sell the new Regza 55X3 to the Japanese for – brace yourselves, a whopping $11,730 after conversion. Will Toshiba offer this TV to the rest of the world apart from Japan? We don’t know yet.
