TomTom and Ford cozy up for semi-integrated navigation in Europe

Ford has teamed up with TomTom in order to offer semi-integrated navigation not in the US, but in Europe instead. From today onwards, TomTom will be integrating its GO LIVE 1000 and GO LIVE 1005 models using a specifically designed cradle for Ford models in Europe. Bear in mind that this is not available in the UK and Ireland at the moment, but who knows what might happen down the road? It seems that this solution is said to be able to deliver a clean semi-integrated solution, where all the wires won’t make themselves look out of place since they’re tucked away into the dashboard.

Not only that, there is no suction mount as well as automatic powering of the device, and apart from that, Ford customers are able to enjoy the benefits of TomTom’s HD Traffic that enables drivers to take the fastest route to their destination depending on real time traffic information that will cover 99.9% of the road network. If you happen to live in Europe, then the GO LIVE 1000 and GO LIVE 1005 models can be ordered at Ford dealers for the Ford KA, Ford Fiesta, Ford Focus 2011, Ford C-Max, and all LCV models.

To elaborate on HD Traffic further, this is a combination of real time traffic as well as unique dynamic routing. The real time traffic information will be generated from a network of more than 80 million probes in Europe, and you should be able to be aware of all traffic jams, but avoiding them might be a bit tricky depending on how accessible your destination is.
