The NEX-7 was due to be released next month, which would make it perfect for the holiday season (albeit it a rather expensive gift), but it seems that the floods have caused Sony to postpone the launch indefinitely. The Sony A65 will also be having its production cut, which isn’t a complete loss since Sony has already launched the A65 in several countries, but if you’re starting to find shops running out of that particular model, chances are you could be in for a long wait for them to restock it.
Sony will be moving the production to another factory in Thailand which was unaffected by the floods. This factory is responsible for manufacturing Sony’s car audio products, but unfortunately there is no word on when production will start up again, according to Sony spokesman Yasuhiro Okada.
