Samsung Galaxy Nexus Specs (Official)

Yup, it’s official folks! The third generation Nexus device by Samsung is now official, and it looks it will be going by the Galaxy Nexus moniker instead of the Nexus Prime name that we have been hearing so much about. As far as hardware specs are concerned, it’s pretty much the same specs that was leaked earlier on today.

Key features:

• 1.2GHZ dual-core processor
• 1GB of RAM
• 16GB/32GB internal storage
• 4.65” 1280×720 HD Super AMOLED display with 100,000:1 contrast ratio
• 5MP rear-facing camera, 1.3MP front-facing camera
• 1080p video recording @ 30fps
• Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0
• EDGE/GPRS/HSPA+ connectivity
• 4G LTE compatibility
• 1750mah standard battery

Take note that as far as HSPA+ is concerned, there will be a model that features HSPA+ (AT&T, T-Mobile) connectivity as well as a model that will feature LTE, both of which are depending on the region it is launched in, and most probably depending on the carrier as well. Its 4.65″ HD Super AMOLED display is apparently good not just for videos, but for texting as well, and with a reported response time of 0.01ms? Well, we can’t wait to see how apps will make use of that!

In terms of design, it looks exactly like the leaked poster that we had reported on earlier, although we can’t say that’s a bad thing. It features a contoured design and the HSPA+ model will be 8.94mm thick, which means you can expect it to be a bit thicker with the LTE version, and will sport a 4.29mm bezel. The back of the device is made out of “hyperskin”, a soft grip texture that is reminiscent of the back portion of T-Mobile’s Samsung Galaxy S2.

Interestingly even though the camera may only feature 5MP (many were hoping for at least 8MP), it supposedly has “zero shutter lag”, and will be able to record 1080p videos with built-in video stabilization. As far as other features are concerned, it will come with NFC technology enabled (that was a given, but oddly enough no mention of compatibility with Google Wallet), and even a barometer built into the phone.

If all this sounds like the phone of your dreams, or a phone with specs and design that live up to your expectation, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus is expected to launch in November. For Japan it will be launched on NTT DoCoMo, but it was not mentioned as to which carrier in the US will be getting the device. We’re guessing that as far as the LTE model is concerned, Verizon is looking up to be a pretty good candidate. No specific date was given or its pricing, but we expect more details to surface over the next couple of weeks.
