Plantronics Voyager Pro HD
Plantronics has just announced its Plantronics Voyager pro HD, a Bluetooth headset aimed at, and priced for, consumers ($99). It may be called “pro”, but that’s because it integrates technology that is usually found in more expensive “business” headsets: noise cancellation, wind noise reduction and services like Vocalyst, a cloud-based voice-assistant that can perform voice-activated tasks on Facebook, Twitter, SMS, Email and many more apps. The Plantronics Voyager Pro HD also comes with InstantMeeting, a Plantronics service that connects you to a conference call by handling all the conference call dial-up complete with passcodes – just by scanning your calendar items.
Yet, while Plantronics recognizes that software and services are the future of smartphone accessories, they still have integrated sensors so that the headset knows when it is on your ear, or in your pocket. Once it is paired to the phone, Plantronics says that there is nothing to active, no button to push: just put it on your ear and calls will go to the headset. We haven’t tried it yet, but from its design it looks like it should have a solid battery life.
