Great news for fans of Nokia Maps – Nokia has just announced a bunch of new updates for its online mapping service, Nokia Maps 3D. It is now completely rendered in 3D and the best part is – you won’t need any plugins to make use of it. At the moment it’s only available for Chrome users but Nokia is in the process of testing it for other web browsers.
In addition to a plugin-free experience, Nokia Maps 3D now has support for heat maps in 56 countries, public transport guides, and an Explore Places function. While most of the world isn’t completely rendered in 3D yet (it’s going to take some time), those places that have been rendered in 3D look really good. It almost feels like you’re playing a video game zooming in and out of the streets and buildings.
