So far the Apple “let’s talk iPhone” event has been pretty lackluster, with no real announcements yet – if you’ve been following our coverage, you can read up all about it on our meta live blog. Eddie Cue went on stage and gave a presentation about iCloud. For folks who missed the keynote at the WWDC earlier this year, you can read our previous coverage about the MobileMe replacement from Apple.
Here’s what Eddie Cue covered today about iCloud:
Cloud syncing: have all your contacts, email, appointments and even your documents synced across all your devices without having to manually do it yourself. A great feature for folks who have to work with multiple devices.
Find my Friends: think Foursquare but only for iOS devices. Not sure how Apple is going to draw users from other location-based social networks, especially since services like Facebook and Foursquare have got location-based deals going on for them. Facebook already has the massive user base, while Foursquare has badges, mayorship and the whole fun element to it. I guess we’ll see.
iTunes Match: access your entire iTunes library from your iOS device without having to upload a single song onto it (internet connection required though). $24.99 a year.
iCloud will released together along with iOS 5 on October 12th. Find out more about iCloud from the official Apple website.
