GM announces Chevy Spark EV for 2013
General Motors has announced that come 2013, their urban minicar, the Chevy Spark, will be made available in the US market, but the kicker is that it will only be available in limited quantity and for select types of drivers only. By select drivers, it appears that unlike other electric vehicles (EV), the Chevy Spark is being aimed at drivers who live in an urban area and who have predictable driving patterns, meaning that they will be able to drive around town without fear of their car suddenly running out of battery.
The all EV Chevy Spark is said to be using lithium-ion battery from A123 Systems, but that’s pretty much all that GM had to offer up in terms of information. Additional details such as pricing, range and other features of the vehicle are still unknown at this point but we expect that more will be revealed over time. Assuming that you live in an urban area, and all you do is drive your kids to and from school, run to the super market or head on down to the local pub, is this an EV that you think you would be interested in purchasing?
