While the HTC Flyer isn’t necessarily a failure, it’s neither a huge success, and with reports claiming that the Kindle Fire hitting pre-order sales of 95,000 units on its first day, perhaps HTC wants in on that too. This might explain why the HTC Flyer is now going for a mere $100 according to Best Buy’s website.
Unfortunately it looks like $100 was really too good an offer to pass up, as the product has now been listed as out of stock on Best Buy’s website. While we can’t be sure if Best Buy’s brick and mortar stores will still have stock, or if they will honor the $100 price tag on their website, you could probably stop by on your way home and check it out. If you were feeling a bit blue that you missed out on the $99 HP TouchPad fire sale, perhaps this may prove to be a fair consolation prize.
Update – It looks like $100 for the HTC Flyer was too good to be true. According to a leaked Best Buy memo, the tablet was incorrectly priced and will retail for $300 as we had previous reported. This is apparently due to a wrong SKU being entered for the device. The memo also stated that Best Buy will not be honoring the erroneous $100 price tag and are apparently telling people that at their stores. [DroidLife]
