AUO flexible paper comes with battery pack

At one point in time, getting digital displays to be flexible proved to be quite a challenge for engineers, but it has been some time since they have already managed that feat – and now the challenge lies in making sure such flexible displays will be able to display far better resolution in addition to making sure the resolution count and color, brightness, et al, are improved constantly. AUO might be onto something new with a flexible thin-film photovoltaic (PV) battery being attached to the back of flexible electronic paper (e-paper), where it was recently showcased at FPD International 2011.

The device is known as an “Un-plugged Flexible E-paper Display,” which basically means it does not need to remain plugged into a power outlet to keep it working. After all, it has its very own power source, so why should it remain connected? This unique combination of PV battery and e-paper might be the future, where a play on such an idea has already resulted in a wristwatch that has hit the mass market already.
