So Samsung is trying to get the iPhone 4S banned in Japan as well as Down Under, but if history were to be studied, chances are they would fail in their attempt since a similar move in the Netherlands last week failed to yield the desired results. Well, I guess the spat between South Korean Samsung and Apple looks set to continue, with Apple telling Samsung that Cupertino will only license out ‘lower level patents’. Does that sound like an insult to you?
While Apple might be in possession of a “thicket of patents,” they are apparently willing to only license “lower level patents” to competing companies. This came about from the bowels of a 65-page document that Apple filed in Australian court last week.
It seems that Apple obviously wants to maintain plenty of its inventions exclusively for iOS use, although they are willing to enable Android device manufacturers to license “some lower level patents.” What do you think of the whole affair? Hopefully Samsung will be able to think of something so radical and user-friendly that Apple will come groveling on their knees to have that – but in the meantime, keep a look out for a blue moon or a flying pig.
