At the moment the program is limited to three of San Francisco’s outlets, which include Apple’s flagship store, the one on Chestnut Street and the other in Stonestown. In order to make sure your orders are sent to the store instead of to your home, the option must be selected during the checkout process when placing your order in Apple’s online store. We can’t be sure if in-store pickups will be faster or slower, but we’re guessing this method is preferred by those who may not have the time to wait at home for delivery and want to avoid the hassle of a missed delivery.
The pilot program has been suggested to expand to other parts of the Bay Area in the next couple of days, and if all goes well, it looks like the program could expand across the rest of the US. Unfortunately there is no word on whether Apple has any plans to extend this option to its retail stores in other parts of the world.
