The next time you’re in the cities of London and Liverpool, make sure you keep a keen eye out for a new kind of trash bins – as some of them will actually talk back whenever you deposit some trash their way. Heck, as you can see on the right, there will even be bins that have a basketball-type hoop – although I don’t think that is such a bad idea as there is no guarantee that whoever does not make the shot will walk to their trash and dispose it properly after that. Back to talking bin business – there will be recordings by famous people who congratulate you for treating your rubbish in a responsible manner come October.
For example, actress Amanda Holden recorded a message that says, “Yes! Do that again!” while former cricketer Phil Tufnell calls out “Howzat!” Bins in Liverpool have Mike McCartney singing a re-recorded version of the Scaffold hit “Thank You Very Much”. Other recorded messages will be sourced from the voice of the X Factor, Peter Dickson, comedian Gina Yashere, rugby player Kenny Logan and opera singer Janis Kelly.
Do you think that having such novelty bins would help reduce unwanted littering in and around the locality? I say, these bring a whole new meaning to the words “talking trash”.
