Native Instrument’s Maschine (not a typo!) will set you back $600 but their Maschine Mikro that they rolled out Monday will only set you back $399. Granted it’s probably not as big or has as many features as its larger sibling, it’s cheaper entry point should have enough features to satisfy the amateur/bedroom DJ.
Apart from a lot less knobs, and one less screen, it will feature the 16 drum/trigger pads that made the original so much fun to play with in the first place. It will also come with the latest Maschine 1.7 software package, which is said to allow the Mikro to tap into Native Instrument’s Komplete 8 and Komplete 8 Ultimate sample bundles. The upside is that thanks to its small size it should make transporting it around with you much easier.
So if this sounds like something you think could kickstart your DJ/music career, the Maschine Mikro is expected to be made available in October for $399.
