Kobo goes social with electronic reading
After the f8 keynote, it is time to digest all that was announced, and of course there will be snippets here that make up crumbs of news left. Kobo, one of the major players with e-book readers, knows that exciting times are ahead by offering the next advancement in social eReading that will allow you to engage in conversations with one another when reading. I am not quite sure whether this is something that everyone would approve of though – after all, I do not want to be interrupted when reading, preferring to retreat into a small corner instead with a nice cuppa in hand, some cookies and a good (digital) book.
I suppose those who are more social and prefer to read in snippets and bytes (like our posts here on Ubergizmo), then having Facebook integration so that you can feature your eReading activity on your Facebook profile makes a whole lot of sense.
Dan Leibu, chief technology officer, Kobo, has this to say, “Our extremely popular Kobo Reading Life app was the first social platform to deliver interaction to eReading. Kobo is committed to staying on the cutting-edge of social eReading to realize our mission of inspiring more people to read by allowing them to share thoughts, insights and experiences.” [Press Release]
