Jamcast enables on-demand digital audio streaming to your Android phone

Got an Android phone and a data plan to waste? Why not stream your music instead of transferring them to your SD card? The folks over at Software Development Solutions Inc. have just announced the launch of Jamcast Player, a streaming client app exclusively for Android devices. Jamcast consists of two apps: Jamcast Server and Jamcast Player. Jamcast Server is used on your home computer to set up a private cloud server where you share all your digital music. Jamcast Player is used on the phone to stream all your music from your private cloud music collection from anywhere in the world – as long as you have an internet connection on your phone.

Jamcast Player lets you control the quality of the music stream, so you don’t have to suffer skips or waiting for songs to buffer if you don’t have a steady internet connection, and it also natively supports a whole variety of audio formats including FLAC, FLAC-HD, OGG, MP3, WMA, ALAC, and AAC/AAC+. Other features include gapless playback, album art support, automatic internet server discovery, integrated security, voice search and more.

Jamcast Player is downloadable for free on the Android Market, while Jamcast Server is available from the Jamcast website and will set you back a one-time fee of $29.99 (14-day free trial available). Sure, it might seem pricey, but hey – in the long run it’s a lot cheaper than paying for a cloud-service like Amazon. Not to mention, the only limit you’ll face is the size of your own hard disk and your home connection’s bandwidth.
