AT&T’s Samsung Galaxy S2 kernel source code released

Last week we reported that Sprint’s version of the Samsung Galaxy S2, the Epic 4G Touch, had its source code released pretty much on the same day that the device was released, and only a few days later we saw the device get rooted. The good news for developers not using Sprint’s Epic 4G Touch is that even before the device has been released, AT&T’s Samsung Galaxy S2’s source code has already been made available by the handset manufacturer themselves.

AT&T’s Samsung Galaxy S2 has been scheduled for a release come 2nd of October, which means that developers will have about a week to mess around with the kernel source code and come up with something just in time for the release of the device. Unfortunately for non-developers, if you’re looking to get your hands on possible ROMs for the Galaxy S2, you would need to root your device. If the method for rooting the Epic 4G Touch can be used on AT&T’s Galaxy S2, then you’re in luck, otherwise it looks like you’ll have to wait.
