According to the Wall Street Journal, Amazon is currently talking to book publishers concerning subscription access to a library of e-books. Of course, there are plenty of issues to be ironed out with such a concept, as publishers too want to take care of their own interests, and understand that the latest titles may be excluded, similar to how Netflix’s streaming service works.
Do you think Amazon will link their e-book library to be part of Amazon Prime services? At the moment, you fork out $79 each year for unlimited two-day shipping and access to movies and TV shows, so to see digital tomes included might be another bonus. What if Amazon decides to throw the lot of music into Amazon Prime? Now that would be a force to be reckoned with, making Amazon’s upcoming tablet all the more desirable.
