Based off Adobe Lightroom, the application is basically cloud based and at the moment it seems that it is targeting Apple users only. The app can be accessed via a Mac computer, iPad, iPhone or iPod touch. Similar to other cloud services, the photos that the user snaps or edits will be sent to the cloud where it will be accessible from any other device as long as they have the app. This also takes care of the issue of storage since all files will be stored in the cloud. There’s also a social aspect of Carousel where subscribers can invite friends or family to collaborate on a photo library free of charge, and photos can be shared on a range of social networking platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr or via e-mail.
The service is expected to launch some time later this month and will come with an introductory price of $60 per year. Those who purchase the subscription while still in its introductory phase will be able to extend the subscription at the same price for an additional two years. Those who miss out on the introductory price can expect to pay $100 per year.
Don’t worry Windows and Android users, Adobe has not forgotten about you guys. Adobe’s plans for a Windows and Android compatible Carousel is expected to be introduced within the first half of 2012.
