Acer Aspire S3 [Ultrabook]

Ultrabooks seem to be in vogue these days, and we have the latest model appearing at IFA 2011 in Berlin in the form of the Acer Aspire S3. Just what does the Acer Aspire S3 bring to the table? Well, it is said to integrate all the best features of notebooks and mobile devices, where it will be able to deliver powerful performance without adding on bulk or weight in the final device. With Acer’s Green Instant On technology incorporated, you will be able to enjoy instant-resume functionality not to mention long battery life, with Acer Instant Connect delivering faster Internet access.

Coming in a thin, light metal design which is sturdy and aerodynamic just like many other Ultrabooks in the market, you will find the 1.3cm thickness to be very welcome after lugging around that dinosaur of a notebook for the longest time already. Apart from that, there will be a full-size Acer FineTip chiclet keyboard alongside a 13.3″ ultra-thin HD LED display that features an open cell design, helping conserve materials used during its construction without sacrificing aesthetics.

There is a vent-free bottom that allows the Aspire S3 to rest comfortably on the user’s lap, ensuring that all warm components are placed away from the palmrest and touchpad area. Powered by the 2nd generation Intel Core i3/i5/i7 processors, the S3 will come with a choice of 240GB SSD or 320/500 GB HDD with embedded SSD for ultra-fast access, Dolby Home Theater v4 support, HDMI output, a 2-in-1 card reader, the integrated Acer Crystal Eye 1.3 megapixel camera and microphone, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity.

Expect Acer to roll out the Aspire S3 in select regions sometime later this month, retailing from €799 and going all the way to €1,199, depending on the system specifications you choose. [Press Release]
