According to a spokeswoman for the Mayor’s office, “the ambition is to have [Wi-Fi access] on bus stops around London and ultimately perhaps on buses”. She did add in the end that the bus Wi-Fi idea was still “slightly early doors”.
On a different note, Virgin Media did signal their intention to offer free Wi-Fi connectivity in different sections in London – where non-customers can enjoy this facility, albeit at slower speeds compared to Virgin customers. Who says membership, or in this case, choosing your mobile carrier carefully, doesn’t have its privileges?
