Sony: Video games can read emotions in a decade
If you were to rewind the clock back by 10 years, how would you have reacted if you were informed that you will be able to wave a wand-like controller around in order to manipulate your in-game avatar? How about simply using your entire body as a controller instead – now wouldn’t that sound just crazy? Well, that’s exactly what we’ve been doing for the past few years with the Wii and Kinect, but Sony has another take on how video games will work in the future. It seems that all it takes would be 10 years before video games are able to read your emotions – and depending on how you’re feeling at the moment, it will be translated to some sort of in-game interaction, although we don’t quite know just what and how yet.
No idea on how a machine is supposed to “read” your emotions unless it is hooked up to check out your pulse rate and brain signals. Seems as though machines are getting even more closely intertwined with our lives, and this next frontier in video games could prove interesting – although other questions will arise concerning whether such technology can soon probe into our minds to find out just exactly what we’re thinking – without us being aware of it, of course. What do you think?
