Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S announced at IFA

Sony Ericsson fans rejoice as the company has just announced another Android smartphone under their Xperia line during the IFA conference in Berlin. The device will be called the Xperia Arc S and it is expected to be available some time in October this year.

Unfortunately not much was revealed about the device, apart from the fact that it will be sporting a 1.4GHz processor under the hood with a display featuring a resolution of 854×480. It will be using Sony’s Reality display, which is also powered by Sony’s mobile Bravia engine, much like the Xperia Arc.

It will also be able to shoot 2D panoramic images thanks to its Exmor R sensor which can then be converted into 3D and viewed on Sony’s 3D Bravia TV sets. Essentially this appears to be more or less the Xperia Arc just with a couple of minor tweaks i.e. bump in processor speed.

No word on how much we can expect to pay for it or which version of Android it will be sporting, but if you’re an Xperia fan, keep your eyes peeled for the device come this October!
