Samsung Galaxy R Enters the U.S Market

samsung-galaxy-rWe have known for some time that the Samsung Galaxy R would be powered by an NVIDIA Tegra 2 chip, as it has already been demonstrated in video and widely leaked on the web.  Today, it is officially announced to the U.S market, even if the fine details are still a bit scarce: because it runs with Tegra 2, we pretty much know its capabilities, which should be similar to other Tegra 2 phones. This means 1080p video playback (5Mbps) , 720p recording and great gaming performance. The main difference will come from Samsung’s modifications and add-ons to Android 2.3. for example, I expect the camera app (including the panorama mode) to be better when compared to the Motorola Tegra 2 phones (Atrix, Droid X2). That said, Motorola’s email and “business” app are usually a bit better.

The other thing that should be good is the camera sensor. We have been very impressed by the photographic capabilities of the Samsung Galaxy S2, and we can only hope that this Galaxy R will be as good. It is currently available in select European countries, and Samsung should be just about done with the specific variants for U.S carriers. Check this more recent video:
