Is Nokia a sinking ship? It really depends on which angle you look at the company from, but we do know that executives come and go. It seems that Tero Ojanperä, former CTO and currently Executive Vice President of Nokia (as well as being a member of Nokia’s ‘Leadership Team’) has decided that he has done all he wanted to do with the Finnish mobile phone manufacturer for slightly more than two decades (21 years in fact), and will be leaving the company to head Vision+, a new investment fund, in his capacity as managing partner.
Interestingly enough, Vision+ did form a deep partnership with Nokia already, so I would suspect that Ojanperä’s would be bumping into his ex-colleagues more often than usual.
Vision+ is an investment fund that is run independently, although Nokia is an ‘anchor investor’, where this fund will back product development projects, especially those that target app and games development for Nokia’s ecosystem, in addition to the Windows Phone platform which Nokia will be concentrating in the future.
