MetroPCS kicks off unlimited music plan with Rhapsody

MetroPCS is definitely not one of the big three wireless carriers Stateside, but that doesn’t mean they are about to just keel over in the face of adversity. The mobile carrier is about to introduce unlimited music to the masses in a business tie-in with Rhapsody. Basically, MetroPCS will be delivering unlimited on-the-go access to a dozen million tracks via subscription music provider Rhapsody, where this plan comes alongside unlimited voice, text and Web access – available on Android-powered smartphones for $60 monthly.

Just what other kinds of competitors are there? Muve Music did successfully introduce a $55 monthly plan that is available over at prepaid wireless phone provider Cricket.

MetroPCS claim that their customers who are rocking to Android-powered smartphones are currently listening to other streaming music offerings including Pandora, the free Internet radio service. Around 20% of MetroPCS’s 9.1 million subscribers who are on Android-powered smartphones have downloaded the app, altering their rate plans in order to take advantage of the service. All new Android phones sold by the carrier will also be able to take advantage of this offer.
