Mattel Ghostbusters ghost trap rolls back the years

Remember the Ghostbusters cartoon that was all the rage back in the 1980s, following the  full motion picture that had the Marshmallow Man as the guy – nay, ghost, whom Egon, Ray, Peter and gang had to take down? Well, you can relive those memories thanks to Mattel who decide to churn a replica of the ghost trap from the movie. You might be taken aback by the $135 price tag as it comes this October, but hold your horses – there is a very good reason why they’re charging that price.

The trap will come in two modes, ‘prop’ and ‘movie’. The former will see the doors of the trap open while lighting up whenever you give the pedal a step, letting you know that a ghost has already been caught, detaining it for good the moment it is closed. When you switch to movie mode, it works in the same manner, save for the light show that is livelier not to mention the inclusion of additional sound effects which will play the moment you open and close the trap’s doors.

Heck, it will go the extra mile by bouncing around to let you (and other impressed folks) see that there is actually an inhabitant from the netherworld within. You know what’s creepy about this? You not touching it at all, and it goes off. Now that’s either a cleverly hidden Easter Egg by Mattel, or you’d best call the local priest to perform an exorcism.
