Did you pick up the dual-screen Android device, the Kyocera Echo, when it was released earlier this year? If you have then we’ve got some good news and bad news for you. The good news? It has been reported that the OTA Android 2.3 Gingerbread update is now finally live and rolling out to you guys over the next few weeks. If this means wholesome Android 2.3 on your unique device – what could possibly be the bad news?
It has also been reported that this OTA update bricks some phones. According to some people who have already received the update, after installation the phone gets stuck at the Kyocera logo screen. While it hasn’t happened to everybody so far but there are also reports saying that a an update of the phone’s firmware at the store, coupled with a hard reset of the phone let the update work flawlessly.
Fortunately Sprint is aware of the issue and are working on a fix, so unless you really know what’s going on with your phone and it would be best to hold off from updating your phone until the problem is resolved. Anybody tried updating their Kyocera Echo phones today? Let us know how it goes.
