Remember the other Galaxy S phone that was released on Verizon? No not the Fascinate, the other one. The special variant that was released with an extra tiny display under the main screen? In case you haven’t gotten the answer yet – it’s the Continuum we’re talking about. While just when we thought Samsung/Verizon has forgotten about it, a very special update for the phone has managed to leak onto the internet.
The Continuum was released with Android 2.1 Éclair and hasn’t had an update since then, well for those of you who are rocking the phone, here’s some good news: the ROM for Android 2.2 Froyo has found its way onto the XDA-developer forums. While it is said to be official (it comes with all the extra Verizon bloatware) it’ll only be a matter of time before a stripped version of the ROM is created.
While it’s not Gingerbread, it’s still a lot better than Android 2.1, though Continuum users might want to wait for the official release (if it ever gets released) since there still are some bugs that need to be ironed out. For those curious folk willing to give it a shot, head over to the XDA-developer forums.
