Blizzard is one of the rare gem of a company that has many cash cows in each of its franchises – surely you cannot deny that the Starcraft, Warcraft and Diablo brands are able to command the allegiance of millions of gamers worldwide at the drop of a hat? They are all extremely successful in their own right, not to mention spawning the “Just one more level/round” excuse that most people give their partners whenever they want to get their gaming fix. Well, Diablo III has already stirred up plenty of attention even before it is officially released, and here we are with Blizzard’s Jay Wilson who opened up concerning the five playable classes in the upcoming title. They are, without much further ado, the Wizard, Demon Hunter, Barbarian, Monk and Witch Doctor.
There are five different videos for each class, and let’s take a closer look at each of them. The Wizard is your standard caster class, where you’re great with magic (so remember to stock up on those mana potions!) but you aren’t too strong constitutionally. As for the Demon Hunter, is this Illidan crossing over from Warcraft? The ranged non-caster class could be the new Amazon, relying on ranged weapons to attack enemies. Barbarians, what can we say about them? Sheer brute force who can take quite a beating but fail miserably against magic. As for Monks, this a more graceful version of the Barbarian, but is less hardy. As for the Witch Doctor, this pet class character allows you to summon “pets” to do your bidding, which means tearing up enemies in front of you.
Blizzard, of course, intends to have Diablo III arrive sometime this year but if that timetable appears to be too tight, 2012 would be a very real possibility. Would you be camping outside of a store to get a copy when the game is released?
