Car powered by cheese and wine

The next time you decide to pull over at a gas station and “fill ‘er up”, you might want to consider whether the rest of your choices in life are eco-friendly or not. We know that electric cars could be the next big thing as these are zero emission vehicles, but there is the small little issue of range. Well, how about getting around in this particular experimental car known as the Lotus Exige 270E Tri-Fuel? The specially modified Exige will be able to run on kind of ethanol fuel that was made from non-drinking grade wine, which in turn also happens to be a byproduct of cheese or chocolate-making processes.

Showcased last week at an eco-rally, this particular vehicle will also be able to run on standard gasoline just in case you are nowhere near any wine producing areas, no? Methanol can also be its fuel – as long as there is a special kind of machine in the vicinity that will extract CO2 straight from the atmosphere, potentially negating carbon emissions. Apart from that, this special Lotus Exige 270E Tri-Fuel will be able to hit 60mph in under four seconds, making it one of the fastest road-legal cars in the world.

Currently in the research and development phase, we do not know when will it be released – if ever, but if you’re interested, you might want to start saving up for one now since we’re quite sure it won’t come cheap.
