Boeing 787 Dreamliner has electronically dimming windows

Is the Boeing 787 Dreamliner a real dreamboat that flies through the air? Perhaps, as it is meant to go up head to head with the Airbus A380. Well, the Airbus took to the skies far earlier than Boeing’s 787, gaining first mover advantage in the process, but that doesn’t mean Boeing’s offering is any less. No sir, it will arrive onto our runways soon, with creature comforts that you won’t find on other aircraft – even in Economy Class. We’re talking about electronically dimming windows here, so you need not worry about the irritating sounds of shutters closing and opening whenever you want to catch some shuteye. Of course, there is a slight drawback to this – you have no say in opening up your “shutter” when the plane is about to land, so expect to be rudely awakened by a ray of light when that moment comes.

You can choose up to 5 levels of dimming, and the windows are also far roomier compared to your average pane as it measures 10″ wide and 18″ in height. The first Boeing 787 Dreamliner will be operated by All Nippon Airways, where it will make its maiden flight from Tokyo to Hong Kong – in addition to other locations in Japan, of course.
