Apple teaches world how to sing

Some of us are born with a golden voice, as for the rest, we are afraid so much as to croak a stanza in fear of causing the heavens to open up and pour. Well, perhaps with a little bit of coaxing and coaching, you might change your mind – as Apple’s iPod touch and iPhone could very well assist ordinary folks to sing along to their favorite tracks if Apple’s plans to transform their portable devices into mobile karaoke machines ends up as a dream come true.

A patent application that was submitted by Apple showed that Cupertino intends to introduce a mobile karaoke system in either the iPod touch or iPhone which will be able to coach amateur singers in hitting the right pitch and key. Not only the singer will benefit, as listeners too, will be able to take advantage of this new technology as it makes off-key warblings sound in-tune.

As you sing, the iPod will analyze your voice, where its algorithm will compare it to how the song is supposed to sound, delivering feedback if they happen to be off key while making the relevant corrections. Should you hit the perfect pitch and key, your performance will be rewarded as the software will enhance it with a concert hall effect. Makes me wonder whether this could have been the Sing Sing Revolution game that we’ve been missing out on all this while.
